Audio Transcription add-in to Microsoft Word
Transcription Assistant (TA) is the Microsoft Word add-in for professional transcriptionists. It includes customizable typing and formatting shortcuts, as well as job research and proofing tools designed to save time and keystrokes in the production of audio transcripts. TA facilitates the editing and formatting of AI-generated transcripts as well as original draft transcriptions.
A light-weight ‘native’ Word add-in, installed locally, TA integrates seamlessly with audio playback software such as Express Scribe and VoiceScribe, and uses a minimal amount of resources. It does not add or alter the styles, variables or document properties and leaves no footprint in client-supplied documents and templates.
Script Wizard Software is a Trusted Publisher. Our add-ins are EV/MS Authenticode secured and our certificate is recognized in Office products.
Use of the TA toolset is optional. Features and options can be explored and incorporated into daily keyboarding habits at the user’s own pace. Transcriptionists can continue to work with their own custom AutoCorrect set and any macros they may have created.
Install Transcription Assistant and continue working without skipping a keystroke. Start using TA features when you are ready. Customize speaker keys, manage your auto correct entries, save and retrieve specific job specs, all from the Transcriptions tab on the Word Menu.
Supports transcriptions of both original draft and AI-generated texts in all transcript formats (radio-style, article, and script)
Works with other Word Add-ins (VoiceScribe, Express Scribe, Word Dictate, etc.)
Installs locally; does not operate in a ‘cloud’ environment.
Can be customized for individual clients. Client settings can be backed up and then restored for quick transitions from one assignment to the next. Backups include all job settings, including paragraph style, speaker names, recording notes, and research links.
Speaker Shortcut Keys insert correctly formatted paragraphs with speaker’s name or token.
Recording Notes User-configured menu of up to 10 frequently-used recording notes and statements.
Job Research Links User-configured menu of up to 10 frequently used websites and/or job guide documents.
Select & Search 1-click Google search on selected document text.

The TA S-T-I-T-C-H Tool stitches the letters in the words that a speaker spells with a single shortcut key command.
The TA Ellipsis Formatter shortcut key inserts well-formed ellipses (. . .) for interrupted speech.
Spot Bookmark Sets a bookmark for a 1-click return from any transcript document location.
Duplicate Token Check Finds instances of duplicate token paragraphs and stops to allow user to correct the error. Can be started from anywhere in the transcript doc and repeated until ‘Not found’.
